Cellulite Treatments

What is Cellulite Treatments?

Cellulite Treatment is the procedure that tries to combat that horrible thing that effects 90% of women: Cellulite. This is the fancy name for the ultra-common pesky fat deposits found on the thighs, stomach, arms and butt.

What causes cellulite?

Cellulite typically starts forming in Women in their 30's due to hormonal changes. It is a huge problem, with most of the female population having some form of cellulite in their life. Women are prone to it as their skin is built different to men's to allow them to store fat and stretch their bodies when pregnant or breast feeding. As you get older, estrogen and circulation levels fluctuate in the body, making the skin harden and retain extra fluid. The surface of the skin then dimples or puckers like the surface of an orange peel, leading to cellulite.

What Cellulite Treatments are there?

There are many different cellulite treatments, but it is always suggested that you rely on others peoples experiences to make the decision about how you want to treat yours. It is important to listen to the myths that surround cellulite treatments. Many feel that Liposuction would work as it is an effective procedure for eliminating fat. However, liposuction can in fact stimulate the body to create cellulite.

One procedure that does work and has proved very popular is a non-surgical treatment called Endermologie which uses mechanical rolling and deep massaging of the skin to break up the cellulite fat regions. The procdeure is carried out by specialised therapist using a clever hand-held machine.

Another treatment is Mesotherapy. This involves a small amount of homeopathic medicine injected into beneath the suface of skin to break down cellulite and improve the circulation. This takes about half an hour each time, and you should only need between seven and ten sessions. This is the most popular surgical cellulite treatment.

Another alternative is to simply hide the cellulite by tanning. It is common for celluilite sufferers to use spray tanning or tanning with lotions at home to give the skin a less obvious dimpling appearance. A good tan always makes you feel better, and by using the safer choices of browning yourself you can cover up those cellulite marks so they are virtually unseen.

Good old-fashioned excercise is also up there in the list of top cellulite treatments. Suggested excercises such as rowing, swimming, riding and walking are meant to reduce cellulite as they stimulate the blood flow and lymphatic circulation. This helps trapped fat move out of your body.

Specialists also recommend eating food that does not create excess water in the body. It is advised to stay away from fatty foods and caffeine and eat lots of berries and nuts. Onions are higlhy recommended as they release water naturally. The cellulite body wrap is also an increasingly popular treatment. It simply involves rubbing coffee beans and seaweed on to the affected area with a cloth, and covering it in clingfilm. Simple but effective.

There are also many creams on the market that can help reduce cellulite.

The main thing to keep in mind is that white cellulite may never go but all these treatments help to reduce them so you feel less conscious in you swimming costume.

What are the side effects of Cellulite Treatments?

Endermologie can leave bruising on some people with extra sensitive skin but this can be solved with many creams and will eventually heal and give you less cellulite so the good points outweigh the bad points.

Mesotherapy can be a little bit uncomfortable and lead to slight swelling which can last up to a day after treatment. There is a cream that can be applied prior to treatment to help stop any discomfort.
