What is VelaSmooth?
VelaSmooth™ is a good treatment for those looking for a simple risk-free solution to their cellulite problems. It is also perfect for those with busy schedules as there is no downtime.
VelaSmooth is the first and only clinically proved medical device used for the effective treatment of cellulite. It uses elos™ (elecro-optical synergy): Bi-Polar Radio Frequency and Infrared Light used simultaneously, as well as tissue mobilisation and suction to non-invasively re-contour and smooth the skin surface. Elos uses a unique combination of radio frequency to increase oxygen intercellular diffusion by heating adipose (fatty tissue) to a depth of 5-15 mm. The use of light meanwhile increases the elasticity of the skin and heats subcutaneous fat up to 5mm. The treatment is highly targeted and so leaves surrounding skin free from any potentially harmful side effects. Tissue mobilisation (vacuum) manipulates the skin to facilitate safe and efficient energy delivery and is aided by rotating self-cleaning electrodes to ensure optimum coupling with the skin. The use of gentle pulses of two targeted energies also means that greater results are achieved with lower overall energy output resulting in a safer and more comfortable form of cellulite reduction than other forms.
Results are said to be noticeable after 4 treatments however 7 treatments are required and monthly maintenance is needed for long-lasting results.
What happens during a treatment?
Before the actual treatment begins the physician can run you through the treatment specifics and what you can expect throughout your VelaSmooth treatments.During the actual treatment the VelaSmooth device is applied to the problem areas such as the hips, abdomen and buttocks. The procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes to perform and no sedation is required. There is no downtime so you are able to return to your work or daily schedule immediately afterwards.
Who and what is it good for?
The treatment is suitable for anyone who is generally healthy and doesn’t suffer from any skin diseases. As well as being good for those looking to get rid of problematic cellulite,VelaSmooth has also been FDA approved to temporarily improve local blood circulation and relieve those with minor muscle aches, spasms and strains.
Who is it not good for and what can the side effects be?
Most people experience no side effects and there are no long-term health hazards. However a few exhibit some short-term local reddening, or bruising of the treatment area. There may also be a slight increase in urine output post treatment as fat is broken down, absorbed and passed via the lymphatic system.
The treatment is not recommended for those wanting to improve their health or facilitate weight loss as it is more for cosmetic purposes. Those concerned about their weight and the risk of disease associated with obesity might want to consider other options. It is not recommended for those who suffer from diabetes (type I and II), anyone taking photosensitising drugs or anyone who have known anticoagulative (blood doesn’t clot properly) or thromboembolic (abnormal development of blood clots) conditions or suffers from photosensitivity. The treatment may also not be suitable for pregnant women. More importantly, people with electrical devices e.g. pacemakers, or metal implants e.g metal hip joints, dental plates or heart valves, cannot be treated because RF current flowing through the body may interfere with these devices or heat up the implants.
Tips on choosing a suitable practitioner
