What is Nutritionist?
Nutritionists give general advice about diet and health and a different from nutritional therapists and dietitians. Nutritionists and dietitians often work closely together, but nutritionists do not advise individual patients unless they are also trained as dietitians or nutritional therapists. As a general rule, nutritionists deal with groups and healthy persons.
Nutritionists often work outside a clinical context: in the food industry, in research and academia, in government and other agencies. They are qualified to provide information to the public about food and healthy eating, but not about special therapeutic diets.
Whilst Nutritionists give general advice about diet and health, it is worth noting that if you are seeking personalised dietary advice to ease the symptoms of an illness; this is the job of a Registered Dietitian.
