Micropigmentation

What is Micropigmentation?

What is permanent cosmetic enhancement?

A treatment to enhance your eyes, brows, lips and cheeks with a soft, natural finish that looks and stays looking, like perfectly applied makeup or the most subtle of enhancements.

Also known as permanent makeup, micro-pigmentation, semi -permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing the results can be as natural and understated or dramatic as you wish, creating a long lasting look to enhance your appearance.

Using specialised medical techniques the process can also achieve visual improvements in the areas of scar camouflage: skin repigmentation; restoration of the nipple and areola complex; cleft palate lip reconstruction and even hair replacement.

Over the past 10 years permanent cosmetic enhancement procedures have improved considerably with the availability of safe computerised equipment and subtle pigment shades designed to compliment all skin tones.

The practitioner and the client no longer have to be satisfied with heavy blocked brows, hard eyeliners and unsightly uneven lip lines. Remarkable results can now be achieved with textured hair simulation eyebrows, soft shaded eyeliners, subtle lip tints, delicate cheek blush and eye shadow.

What happens during the procedure?

The consultation process

Prior to the enhancement procedure you will receive a comprehensive consultation during which you will have the opportunity to discuss the results you wish to achieve and how permanent make-up can enhance your appearance.
If there is a specific look that you particularly like, take magazine pictures showing that look, as this will help the permanent make-up artist visualise what you want to achieve.
The permanent make-up artist will identify the micro-pigmentation shades that work with your hair, skin and eye colour. They will also analyze your facial shape and features to determine the most complimentary look for your individual requirements.
Using conventional cosmetics the permanent make-up artist will also create your unique look visually so that you can approve the enhancement before the micro-pigmentation pigments are infused into your skin. This ensures the finished result is exactly what you want.

Does it hurt?

Before the permanent make-up process begins a topical numbing agent is applied to the skin to reduce the level of discomfort felt during the procedure. (Editor’s note: Having had some micropigmentation myself, I can tell you it still hurts, so be prepared to tolerate some discomfort!)

The infusion process

The pigment infusion process generally takes 40 minutes and is achieved using state of the art computerized micro-pigmentation equipment.
Immediately after the infusion process your permanent make-up enhancement will display mild redness and swelling that lasts no longer than 24 hours. The enhancement will also appear a darker shade than the desired result for approximately 1 week.
The follow up session four weeks later will allow your permanent make-up artist to refine the enhancement paying particular attention to fine detail (this session is included in the initial price).
The enhancement will gradually fade over a number of years leaving a barely there haze of colour in the skin. Most people opt to refresh their permanent make-up enhancements every 12 months in order to refresh their look. The refresh procedure is charged at a low cost maintenance price.
