What is Thermage?

Thermage is a non-invasive treatment using radiofrequency technology, that can tighten and restore facial contours. This is done by reshaping he skins innermost structures.

How does it work?
Thermage uses a patented capacitive radiofrequency technology called ThermaCool. This frequency is transmitted through a tip called ThermaTip. With every application of this tip, it uniformly distributes the radiofrequency which heats the collagen in the deep layers of the skin. Simultaneously, the tip helps to cool the surface of the skin, which helps protect it. This technique immediately tightens your skin by generating collagen; which is what naturally gives you skin its youthful, tighter appearance. This procedure gently lifts the face, thereby smoothing out wrinkles.

What does this procedure feel like?
With each application of the ThermaTip you’ll feel a heat sensation that goes deep into the skin. This brief sensation is a result of the collagen (in the deeper layer of the skin) reaching its optimum temperature to begin tightening the skin. A cooling cream is applied to the treatment area to provide pain relief. Also, pain relief medication is also given after the treatment. For additional comfort, the ThermaTip is cooled prior, during and after heating.

How long does the treatment last?
A Thermage treatment can take between twenty and two hours, all dependent on the treatment area. In some cases you’ll need to undergo skin preparation for the treatment. This could take some more time.

What is this procedure useful for?
Thermage can be used for areas on the face that are sagging, areas such as the eyebrow area, cheeks, and chin area. However, this procedure can also be used on other parts of the body such as the thighs, abdomen, upper arms and hands.

Who is it ideal for?
Thermage is a good anti-ageing treatment, and suitable for people who do not want to undergo a surgical procedure. Unlike a facelift - which is more expensive - there is no recovery time and you can return to your normal activities right away. Also, Thermage is a very effective treatment, and results are seen just after a single treatment. However, the number of treatments you receive will be dependent on the rate that your skin loses its elasticity.

Is the Thermage procedure safe?
Thermage has an excellent safety record. The most frequently reported side effects are mild swelling, blisters, and bumps over fatty areas. These incidents are below 1%.

How much will it cost me?
The price will depend upon which area is being treated. Prices range from approximately £600-£1500.
